Upon arrival to Chicago we failed to find full day Jewish daycare locally because local Jewish congregations refused to have a deal with us as soon as they heard that we are Israeli citizens. The conversation even did not reach the step of presentation of our Israeli marriage certificate and Israeli religious marriage certificate. They offered Lutheran daycare at Concordia University that we considered inapplicable for our kids because of different religious background and other probable risks. Later the same situation repeated with Sunday Hebrew School. As a result we need to undertake 2 and a half hour one way road trip every Sunday in order our daughter will be familiar with Jewish tradition and learn Hebrew to be able to communicate normally with her Israeli cousins and even attend Israeli school in the future if needed. As a result both our kids are healthy physically and mentally. They are doing martial arts sports and learning reading and arithmetic.
