Julian Sirio John Rebechi is General Counsel | Company Secretary and a Director at Swisse Wellness Group (which comprises 3 Directors, including Group CEO and Group Chairman of Swisse’s parent company H&H Group - listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange) and other companies / brands within the Group. In 2018, Swisse’s legal team was named Australia's “Legal Team of the Year" by Lawyers Weekly.
Julian joined Swisse in mid 2013 and has played a key role in many significant transactions, including Swisse’s major debt refinancing with Goldman Sachs and its landmark global joint venture in 2013 with Procter & Gamble and Israeli based Teva Pharmaceuticals. In 2015, Julian as General Counsel led the legal deal team which negotiated the momentous ~ $2 billion acquisition of Swisse by HK listed, leading premium infant formula company Biostime International, and in 2016 the USD 400m bonds issue. In 2017, Julian was named "General Counsel of the Year - Finalist" at the 17th “Annual Australian Law Awards” hosted in Sydney, Australia.
More recently, Julian was part of the deal team that acquired infant goat milk formula company “Farmland” in 2018, UK probiotic skincare company “Aurelia” in 2019 and America’s first holistic pet food company “Solid Gold” in December 2020. Other investments Julian helped undertake on behalf of “NewH2” (H&H Group’s venture capital fund) include Else Nutrition (Israel), BOD Australia (Australia), Lumen (Israel) and Proven (USA).
Prior to joining Swisse, Julian was a Senior Lawyer in the Mergers & Acquisitions Group of Herbert Smith Freehills (Australia’s top tier law firm and #1 ranked M&A firm), playing a key role in a number of high profile corporate transactions, including AMP and AXA SA’s $14.4 billion acquisition of AXA Asia Pacific and TPG Capital’s (a leading US based private investment firm with more than $48 billion of assets under management) acquisition of Ingham Group.
Julian has a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws (First Class Honours) from the University of Melbourne and attended high school at Xavier College in Melbourne, where he was the recipient of the “Richard Pratt General Excellence Scholarship”. During his law degree, Julian obtained first ranked Dean's subject prizes in contracts law, competition law, corporations law, property law and constitutional law.
Prior to entering law, Julian was an international tennis player on the professional tennis circuit, achieving a world tennis ranking on the ATP tour and is a previous Scholarship holder and current member at Royal South Yarra Tennis Club.
