Karen Bloom is the principal of Bloom, Gross & Associates, Inc., an executive search consulting firm specializing in the national recruitment of marketing and communications professionals. Karen formed Bloom, Gross & Associates in 1988 with Barbara Gross who, in November 1993, retired from the firm. Karen remained its principal and today, contributes over twenty-four years of search experience to the firm.
Karen championed the growth of Bloom, Gross & Associates and is responsible for new business initiatives, overseeing day-to-day operations and maintaining a strategic role in the firm’s searches. Bloom, Gross & Associates consists of three practice areas: advertising, marketing and public relations, with seven associates serving the needs of client companies in those disciplines. Since 2006, Bloom, Gross & Associates has placed over 150 people within client companies through both retained and contingency searches.
Widely quoted about her observations and experiences regarding employment trends and practices, Karen was a contributor to the book, “On Staffing: Advice and Perspectives from HR Leaders,” published in 2004 by John Wiley & Sons. Karen is a frequent speaker at graduate schools of business, professional organizations and outplacement firms and has served on the Board of Directors for the Institute for Business & Professional Ethics at DePaul University. She previously sat on the Board of Directors for the Employment Management Association (EMA) – a professional emphasis group of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and the EMA Foundation as well as serving the EMA as Area Vice President and Vice President at-Large. Currently, Karen sits on the Board of Directors for Staffing Management Association of Greater Chicago. She served as a board member for Athletes Against Drugs in 2008.
