Senior Sales Executive at Puzzel @ Stockholm, Stockholm County
Senior Software Engineer
San José Metropolitan Area
Hello there. I'm a Costa Rican software engineer with a passion for building systems, learning new things and helping others do the same.
I believe that our most impactful work tends to come from the things we've loved since we were children. For me, that's avid learning, exploring new things and building stuff, piece by piece, until I can be proud of my accomplishment. As a child, that was reading, programming (yes, I started early!) and building physical things. As an adult, that's being in a career that allows for endless exploration.
I was a freelancer and contractor for most of my career. That was a natural step for me, since I was eager to do as much as I could. Being independent allowed me to learn not just about software, but also about business, marketing and mentoring. Freelancing meant that I ended up working for a very diverse set of clients, both culturally and technologically. "I've seen things you people wouldn't believe" could describe quite well my initial forays into the world market, several years ago.
My experience and training as a data engineer using SQL Server and as a Java/.NET developer also allows me to build better web applications. I have a passion for systems design and software architecture, and have a special interest in the problems that begin to appear once we need to support a global scale.
I believe that technology can be a huge benefit for our lives and our societies. But it should be deployed responsibly, both from the technical point of view (following good practices is a critical aspect of our work as engineers) and from the social point of view. The decisions of a team of developers that care about their work can make a big difference for a lot of people.
