Software Engineer at Bloomberg LP @ Stony Brook, New York
QA Engineer at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (contracted through TEKsystems)
More than 2 decades of experience in testing and verifying enterprise software. Improving software is my passion, and I have yet to find software that cannot be improved. I have a talent for finding bugs, characterizing them, suggesting changes, and verifying fixes. I work well with others, and I enjoy helping developers create a quality product that delights our customers.
Shortly before graduating from BYU in 1992 I was invited to an interview with Intel Corporation for a position as a technical writer. To my surprise, instead of interviewing for a technical writing position I was instead interviewed and hired by the QA department as a software tester, and thus began a fun and challenging career working with wonderful people and complex products.
My first test manager had a favorite saying for developers who claimed that their code was working: "I'm from Missouri. Show me!" My manager was not actually from Missouri, and since I used to live in Missouri I was quick to adopt the quote.
Over the years I have worked with full life-cycle planning, testing, verification, and release processes, including functionality testing, usability testing, compatibility testing, installation testing, build testing, and UI testing. I have experience in exploratory testing, automation testing, black box testing, gray box testing, and regression testing.
When I'm not verifying software you might find me spending time with family, taking an online course, putting together a jigsaw puzzle, or playing racquetball or tinkering with technology.
