I give locally and care globally.
Lawyer, legal studies professor, movement builder, writer, social justice advocate, and life-long volunteer and contributor to many communities.
With a breadth and depth of experience in policy, advocacy, public speaking, outreach & awareness-raising, communication, team-work and collaboration, project management, as well as in political engagement, teaching, the law, criminal justice, and volunteerism, I bring a unique and invaluable level of skills and experience to my work. Self-starter who loves working with others.
I am the founder and Executive Director of All IN, a volunteer organization that works for inclusive communities through public engagement and political discussions and advocacy.
In 2014 and in 2018, I was a candidate for Toronto City Council in Ward 16 (then 14, then 8). I ran the most progressive campaign in the Ward each time, and received significant support.
I write on criminal and social justice issues, and have been published in The Huffington Post, The Toronto Star, the National Observer, the Canadian Jewish News, and TVO's The Agenda Online. I speak to the public on a variety of issues: building communities, the criminal justice system, restorative justice, Jewish law and the criminal justice system, policing, and race in politics. I have made deputations before all 3 levels of government.
I have over 30-years of local and international volunteer experience and over 10 years of board experience. Since the age of 14, I have consistently volunteered in many capacities: with seniors, youth-at-risk, persons with mental health challenges, the homeless, immigrants, and sex workers. I have volunteered in Canada, in Israel, and in Zimbabwe. A past director of two non-profit boards (RESULTS Canada and Parkdale Activity Recreation Centre), I possess strong oversight, governance, relationship-building, and management skills.
