A passionate and experienced healthcare professional. Combining >25 years tertiary sector applied health research, 5 years of tertiary sector management/leadership, 2 years of NFP leadership and a lifetime commitment to improving the health of New Zealanders, I have published research of high impact and provide industry leadership through board membership, consortia leadership.
I'm currently completing an HRC-funded research project to establish normal echo ranges for Aotearoa/New Zealand that will be applicable to Maori and Pacific patients: the current ones we use only apply to New Zealanders of European descent.
My discipline-specific clinical skills include echocardiography and clinical research (including heart failure, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, meta-analysis).
I am the PI of three international individual meta-analyses:
MeRGE - demonstrating the independent prognostic use of diastolic parameters in heart failure and post MI
MAGGIC - comparing heart failure with preserved EF and low EF
EchoNoRMAL - developing age-, sex-, and ethnic-reference ranges for echocardiographic measurements of the left heart.
