Visiting Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic
I am a multi-award winning Post-Doctoral researcher who to date has obtained a BSc in Physiology, an MSc in Neuropharmacology and a PhD in Biotechnology. I currently hold joint-positions as a Visiting Research Fellow at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, USA and a Post-doctoral Researcher at the Centre for Research in Medical Devices (CÚRAM) at the National University of Ireland Galway, rotating between each location on a regular basis. My research has focused primarily on the pathophysiology of disease and currently, I am the centre-point of a large multi-disciplinary team which includes Interventional Neuroradiologists, Pathologists, Clinical research staff and Medical and Research Scientists working together on a large international study aiming to better understand the physiological characteristics of acute ischemic stroke blood clots. This study which is jointly led by Mayo Clinic and CÚRAM also involves further centres in Ireland and the United States as well as centres in Sweden, Belgium, Canada, Hungary and Finland.
